February 23, 2026 – Program – Cold / Landscape Photography – Susan Arness

Susan will discuss shooting in cold weather and managing bright light and snow. She will delve into the creative benefits of winter photography—things like increased contrast, fewer but more subtle colours, stark landscapes, and the drama of winter weather. Her focus tends to be on finding beauty in simplicity, which she often finds more readily in winter scenes. Much of her visual inspiration comes from the work of Andrew Wyeth, who painted many rural winter landscapes, and she will elaborate on that influence as well.
