2025-2026 Round 3 Competition – Judges’ Bio

Leif Petersen

Leif has been involved in photography for over 40 years. In his 17 years with the Oshawa Camera Club, he has served 2 terms as the President. He is in his 4th year as President of the Ontario Council of Camera Clubs (O3C) and is the immediate Past President and currently the Treasurer of the Toronto Focal Forum, a group of avid photographers who print and evaluate their images. He enjoys his role as an Ambassador for Panasonic Canada, which involves evaluating their Lumix equipment and promoting their technology. He is an O3C accredited judge. 

Leif’s extensive travel includes trips to 33 countries and all 7 continents. He has often shared his photographic knowledge and enjoyment of travelling by hosting photo tours to Norway and India as well as presentations on various aspects of photography. He prints and mats his own images and offers these services to other photographers.

Louie Luo

Louie is an architecture and fine art photography enthusiast whose hobby evolved into a true passion after he joined two of Canada’s top camera clubs—RHCC and JEPA—in 2018. Since then, he has embraced photography as a continuous journey of learning and discovery, always seeking unique angles and compelling subjects without limiting himself to any single genre.

Louie has participated in both Canadian and international competitions, including CAPA, PSA, and GCPA, earning more than 80 awards to date. Louie won the title of THE DISTINGUISHED CANADIAN PHOTOGRAPHER AWARD at 132th Toronto International Salon of Photography 2026. He is currently a Canadian-certified judge and serves as Vice President of the Atlantic Photographers Association. Professionally, Louie works as scientist for the Ontario government.

Craig Lauder

I am an active member at the Focal Forum, which is a print only club. These days I do mostly wildlife (usually from Southern Africa) with portrait/beauty, as well as some street and landscape photography when travelling.  I am also active in the Photo industry, in that I own an album production company, where we sell to Professional photographers across Canada and the US.  As such, I do keep up to date with trends in the professional world, and obviously attend various photo type trade shows (Imaging USA, WPPI etc). Typically when I go to these trade shows I will attend judging sessions of the associated competitions. I have judged smaller competitions of some specialized photo groups within the industry, as well as several international salons. I have completed a refresher O3C course in 2021, and am a CAPA certified judge. I have also received accreditation from PPOC (Professional Photographers of Canada), and hold EFIAP distinction from FIAP
